    Quokka Maintenance & Care

How do I clean it after use?

Once the unit is completely cool, tip out the ash and wipe down the stainless steel panels. For a deep clean, you can use warm soapy water or a pressure washer (fan spray).

Should I leave the ash in it?

No. Ash can attract moisture, which may eventually lead to corrosion even on stainless steel. Always empty and dry the pit before storing it in its bag.

Can I pour water on it to put the fire out quickly?

Not recommended. Pouring cold water on hot metal causes "thermal shock," which can damage the structure. It is best to let the fire die down naturally or smother the fire with sand or dirt if you are in a hurry.
